Soekarno-Hatta was ranked as the ninth busiest airport in the world for 2012. The result of the conducted by Airports Council International (ACI) is based on the amount of passenger traffic, including transit passengers who do.
Last year, Soekarno-Hatta airport recorded a passenger as much as 57,772,762, with a 12.1% increase over the previous year. In 2011, the biggest airport in Indonesia is only ranked 12th.
Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, United States, still the world's busiest airport since 2000, with a total of as many as 95,462,867 passengers during 2012. Compared to the year 2011, an increase of passengers by 3.3%.
Ranked second and third occupied Beijing International Airport and London Heathrow airport by number of passengers respectively 81,929,359 and 70,037,417.
In the ASEAN region, Thailand Suvarnabhumi Airport is ranked 14th by number of passengers 53,002,328. Meanwhile, Singapore's Changi Airport ranks only 15th with a total of 51,181,804 passengers.
Airports Council International is always used to doing the airports in the world, despite the authorities and airport operators have different data.
