Meteor Crashed in Central of Russia

A meteor through the atmosphere and exploded in the sky Central Russia, Friday (15/2) local time. Meteor showers caused a fireball across a wide area and the pounding waves smashing windows and damaging a number of buildings and injuring more than 1,000.

"People who are going to work in Chelyabinsk heard a sound like an explosion, saw a bright light, and then feel the beat of the waves," said a Reuters correspondent in the industrial city, which lies about 1,500 kilometers east of Moscow.

Fireball that according to the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, shot with a speed of 30 kilometers per second, it appears illuminate the horizon, leaving a long trail of white that can be seen up to a distance of 200 kilometers. Sound car alarm blaring, the windows broken, and mobile phone networks were disrupted during the incident. Meanwhile, Russia's Interior Ministry said the blast meteor which is a very rare phenomenon, it also creates a sonic boom. "Meteor, which weighs about 10 tons and may be formed of metal, entered the earth's atmosphere and broke about 30-50 kilometers above the ground," said the Russian Academy of Sciences as well.

There are no reports of fatalities, but the Ministry of Emergency Russia has said that 20,000 rescue workers and cleaners have been sent to the region, after President Vladimir Putin asked the Minister of Emergency Vladimir Puchkov to cope with the disorder and help the victims. Russia's Interior Ministry itself says that about 1,200 people were injured, at least 200 of them children, and injured the majority of broken glass.

Chelyabinsk Region has long been known to be a Russian defense industry and military, as well as often being the location where the artillery bombs deactivated. An official said the Russian Ministry of Emergency, meteor storm was classified as very rare, and Friday's incident was probably related to an asteroid the size of an Olympic swimming pool which was later widely reported through the earth. However, an astronomer at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Sergei Barabanov, expressed doubt over the report.

Barabanov said there was no evidence to support the theory that a meteor that streaked together or separates from the asteroid. European Space Agency, in his Twitter blog, also confirmed that there is no relationship between the meteor and asteroid.

Although rare, Russia is not the first time this fall to deal with the large size of the meteor with great impact. In 1908 ago, a meteorite is estimated to destroy an area of over 2,000 square kilometers in Siberia, smashing windows to a distance of 200 kilometers from the point of impact.
