Kuta: Hard Rock Hotel Bali donated Rp 150,000,000 (US$12,720) to the Bali Pink Ribbon Foundation, as a result of its month-long Pinktober campaign in October 2013 and the charity fun run event, Rock ‘n Run, in November 2013.
The check was presented by Andrew Khoo, the general manager of Hard Rock Hotel Bali to Bali Pink Ribbon committee members at Centerstage last Friday.
Held on Valentine’s Day, the event inspired everyone to share their love for the cancer-fighting women of Bali who are less fortunate and may not have access to reliable information on how to be cured.
Pinktober is a global initiative by Hard Rock locations around the world, which aims to raise breast cancer awareness and funds in the effort to fight breast cancer.
In October 2013, the campaign included a Pink Room, a pink-decorated deluxe premium room with a set of pink amenities and benefits, offered on the hotel’s website. The good cheer continued with Pinktober Party on Oct. 16, 2013, with a special performance by Shena Malsiana.
Also last year, Rock ‘n Run the 13th Chapter, an annual charity event, was held with tremendous participation from the public. More than 600 people turned up to participate and the event managed to sell almost 2,000 shirts.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting the cause. Our shout out goes to the women living at the ends of Bali, in remote villages that may be fighting cancer now, we hear you and we care about you! Thank you Bali Pink Ribbon, sponsors and partners for the ongoing support,” said Khoo.
During the check presentation, Mayke Boestami, board secretary for Bali Pink Ribbon, gave her highest appreciation for all the fundraising efforts. “Bali Pink Ribbon is forever grateful for everyone that participated in Pinktober and Rock ‘n Run. Your kindness means everything to the women we are helping to fight breast cancer,” said Mayke.
