33 foreigners in Bali Positive HIV / AIDS

A total of 33 foreigners who have visited or lived Bali, positively affected by HIV / AIDS.

This was conveyed Regional AIDS Commission (NAC), Dr Mangku Karmaya as quoted by Antara in Jakarta, Thursday (02/05/2013).

According Mangku, from the data collected since the year 1987-2013, the result is 16 of 33 people living with HIV / AIDS is unknown. 17 of them are from Timor Leste and the United States (four each), France (two), Australia, Netherlands, Canada, Europe, Ireland, Italy and Switzerland.

"Citizens first foreigner who died of AIDS in Bali came from the Netherlands in 1987. In the last 27 years, to date there are 7,291 cases of HIV / AIDS. Carrier with total HIV / AIDS cases 3,459 to 3,832 people," he explained.

Mangku said that the number of HIV / AIDS in Bali has now spread to rural areas, so the number of cases continues to increase from year to year.

"75 percent of disease is caused by heterosexual intercourse, and 11.08 percent of the use of drugs, 4.16 percent as homosexual and the rest from other causes," said Mangku.

In his explanation, Mangku explained that most of the known victims were in the productive age group, or about 40.19 percent or 2,930 cases in the age group 20-29 years and 36.33 percent or 2,649 cases in the age group 30-39 years.
